Multi-location local SEO: a practical playbook

Ranking one location is straightforward. Ranking twenty — consistently, at scale — needs a system. Here's the one we use.

The core standard

Define one optimization standard — categories, services, description format, posting cadence, photo requirements, review-response templates — and apply it identically to every location. Inconsistency is what kills multi-location programs.

Profiles at scale

Use bulk management, but never let a location's profile become generic. Each needs its own photos, its own posts, its own manager responding to reviews in a local voice.

Location pages that aren't spam

The difference between a useful service-area page and a doorway page is genuine local content: the local team, real projects, directions, parking, local FAQs, and service details specific to that market.

Near-duplicate pages with the city name swapped will not rank and risk a manual action.

Reviews and citations

Run a compliant review-generation system per location — post-visit SMS or QR requests — and respond to every review. Clean up NAP inconsistencies across the major aggregators so the data propagates correctly.

Measuring by location

Track rankings on a geo-grid around each location, not a single position. Tie calls, direction requests and form fills back to each profile so you can see which markets need more work.
