Generic crawlers flag hundreds of 'issues'. Here are the technical factors that genuinely move rankings — and how to prioritize them.
Crawlability and indexing
Start with reality, not theory: pull your log files and Search Console index coverage. The question is simple — are the pages you want ranked being crawled, rendered and indexed?
Common culprits: bloated XML sitemaps full of non-canonical URLs, faceted navigation generating millions of crawlable combinations, and noindex tags left over from staging.
- Submit clean sitemaps of only indexable, canonical URLs

Newer to the checklist: confirm that GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended aren't blocked at your CDN or in robots.txt unless that's a deliberate choice.
